Since 1981, Middfest International has been opening the world to the people of the Midwest, one country at a time.  In planning for the participation of each country, the emphasis has been to offer an opportunity for the guest county to tell its own story.  Working directly with representatives from governments and organizations, plus individuals, the insight and projects they suggest become an integral part of the final presentation.  Performers, artists, experts and dignitaries come from the country and stay in private homes.  Through these home stays an important person to person component is added and long-lasting friendships are forged.
